The Beginning of the Collective
In 2024, The Collective Members Only (TCMO) hosted its first-ever launch event in collaboration with Charlie Rixon from Perspective Pictures bringing together filmmakers, musicians, visual artists, and multidisciplinary creatives from across London for a night of connection, collaboration, and shared work.
The motivation was simple: while many creatives work across disciplines, there are few spaces that actively encourage skill-sharing and collaboration across fields, whether paid or unpaid. The launch event set out to change that.
The Event
The night featured showcases from over 25 creatives, including visual artists, filmmakers, musicians, and DJs, creating a multi-layered programme that reflected the diversity of the collective. Alongside performances and exhibitions, the event created space for conversation, networking, and real-world connection.
To add tangible value for attendees, TCMO also provided professional headshots, supporting creatives in building their online presence beyond the night itself.
Outcomes & Impact
The launch exceeded expectations across every measure:
Sold out online and on the door, with a packed bar throughout the night
100+ attendees and 25 creatives showcased
Instagram growth from 15 to nearly 400 followers in three weeks
Profitable event, with funds reinvested into future TCMO programming
Strong audience feedback highlighting the need for spaces like this
Despite a tight budget and the pressure of producing a first event, the success confirmed both the demand for TCMO’s vision and the strength of the community around it.
Why It Matters
The TCMO launch marked the start of an ongoing platform for multidisciplinary creatives to connect, collaborate, and be seen. It demonstrated the collective’s ability to:
Build engaged audiences from the ground up
Deliver well-produced, culturally relevant events
Create value for both artists and partners
Turn community energy into sustainable growth
This event laid the foundation for everything that followed from cultural partnerships to residencies, commissions, and community-led programming.
Looking Ahead
TCMO continues to build spaces where creatives can meet, share skills, and grow together working with artists, venues, and brands who believe in culture-led, community-first collaboration.
This was just the beginning.
